30 week update

I have been meaning to update this blog for a little while, and finally have some time. First of all my 30 week belly shot.

I am feeling really big. I can't really bend over very well anymore. Thank goodness for slip on shoes, because I can't really tie my own shoe anymore. Junebug also loves to move, which I love. I can feel him a lot right in my ribs. I don't remember JR ever really kicking me in my ribs. I think I must be carrying junebug higher than I did JR. I have a hard time breathing sometimes, which I never experienced with JR either. So I think he likes to snuggle right up against my ribs or something. Although I don't like not being able to breath, it has been nice that he is not squeezed between my hips anymore. My hips used to ache all the time, because he was so low. Now that he is moved up, my hips don't bother me anymore, which is nice. I'm sure that will change by the very end, but for right now I feel really good.

I had a dr. appt last monday and it was very routine. I had to take JR with me, because Mike had a meeting with his dissertation committee. Anyway, I was a little worried about how he would react, but he was so good. All the nurses told me how cute he was and how they couldn't believe he just sat there with me in the waiting area and wasn't running around. JR loves to run around and get into stuff, but when it is a new experience he is really shy, so he tends to stay close to mom or dad. So it wasn't bad. When we went into the room where you see the dr. though, he freaked out. I think he thought he was seeing the dr. and he hates to go to the dr. After I told him that the dr. was going to see me and not him he calmed down though. When my dr. came in he did get a little nervous, but once he realized the dr. really wasn't going to check him out, he was fine. My dr. attempted to play with him, and by the end of my short appt, he was talking and playing with the dr. I think my dr. liked seeing him again, since he delivered him. JR also seemed to think that it was pretty cool to hear the baby's heartbeat, at least he got a big grin on his face when I told him that was what he was hearing.

I have made my to do list of things I want to get done before the junebug comes, and it is almost finished. I have gone through all the baby boys clothes and I can't believe how little they are. I don't remember JR ever being that small. We also ordered a co-sleeper to use for junebug and it arrived today. I still have a few more things to do, but if this baby were to make an early appearance I think we would be ready. Of course I don't want him to come too early, want to make sure he is ready to be done baking first of course. But I am really anxious to meet him. I am in the single digits starting tomorrow. Only 9 more weeks.

28 weeks

and the beginning of the third trimester. I can't believe how excited I am to be in the third trimester. For whatever reason I feel like things are going to go fast now. It seems likes such a big milestone. People at work have started to tell me I finally look pg, and I'm like what are you talking about, I've looked pg for a long time.

Here is my most recent belly pic.

Not a whole lot to report. Jonathan felt the baby move today and I told him the baby was giving him a high five. I think he finally understood there is a little person in there. He kept signing baby and saying "baby, tummy" and I told him yes there was a baby in mommy's tummy. It was very cute.

I finally made a to do list of all the things that I need to do before the baby arrives. Hopefully I will start on that soon. I can't believe how really close it feels nows. Only 12 more weeks to go.

Dr. appt update

I had a dr. appt. yesterday that was pretty uneventful. Very routine and heard junebug's heartbeat again, nice and strong. I did gain too much weight this last month, I was pretty sure I had, but it was confirmed yesterday. I'm not going to say how much I gained, just that it was too much. It is still possible for me to be within the normal range of weight gain by the end, so that is what I am shooting for. I just can't have any more months like this last one. So I need to stay away from the junk food, but it is so hard, LOL. I mentioned to my dr. about the contractions. He wasn't too concerned, but he told me if that happened again, and I couldn't get them to stop after 30 minutes, that I needed to go to L&D right away. He told me that BH are usually not regular, like I was experiencing, but as long as I got them to go away, it was nothing to worry about. I didn't mention to him that they lasted for a good part of the day that day, but I know that was in part because I was so busy, I couldn't rest and get the water in my system I needed. Once I could, they went away. My appt next month I will be in the 3rd trimester, and then I get to start going in every two weeks. It is getting close. The pg has seemed to go by slower, but I have feeling that this last trimester will go by fast and the baby will be here before I know it. I need to start writing out my to do list so that I can start working on it. There is not a whole lot I need to do before the baby comes, but there are some things that I just want to do. Mike has to teach in June, so I think I am going to try to get everything done before June if possible.

The baby continues to be very active, and both Mike and JR have felt him move. Although I don't think JR really understand that it is a baby moving in there. He will sometimes pat my tummy and say baby. But he has been sitting on my lap and the baby has kicked, and I know he felt it, but he just ignores it. JR got some new toys for his birthday last week, so I decided to go through all his toys and put all the really baby ones in a box for the baby. It cleared some space in toy box, but as I was going through the toys, he kept picking up the baby toys and playing with them. He was fine with me packing them away, but I just think it is so funny how he could still want to play with these toys when they are pulled out. I wonder what it will be like when the baby is here and we are actually letting the baby play with all his old toys.

24 weeks

Here I am at 24 weeks. I don't know how much you can tell the difference from last week, but I am definitely heavier. I think my appetite is finally back to where it was before I was pg. It is still not the same as when I was pg with JR, but it's getting close.

Also I have been having quite a bit of BH contractions. I am not too worried about them, I can usually get them to go away. I also notice I get them the most when I have not had enough water or when I have just been really busy throughout the day. So I don't think there is anything to be concerned about. However, everything that I read and what others have told me is the BH are sporadic. But one day last week, I had BH for about 2 hours straight, and when I was finally at a place where I could look at a clock and time them, they were coming every 2 minutes. I am not sure that is normal, so I will be sure to mention to my dr. at my next appt. But I decided not to call my dr about it, because when I got home and was able to lay down and drink some water they did go away. It is probably just my body doing a little practice, but I do have quite a big fear of going into preterm labor, even though the probability that I will is slim. I think it is mostly because we live in such a small town and the hospital here does not have a NICU, so it would be really scary to go into labor too soon if they couldn't stop it and the baby was born premature. I know that is not likely to happen, but of course it is something I worry about.

Mike and I are still struggling on finding a name. I have a name that I really like. I don't want to mention it, because I don't think Mike likes it, but it is really growing on me. I keep begging him to give me some names he likes, so that I can start thinking of some others, but he won't. He keeps telling me that I have already named the baby. I haven't, but it is getting harder and harder not to think of the name I like when I am thinking of the baby.

The baby has also has been moving around a lot more now, with some really strong kicks that can be felt from the outside. Mike felt the baby move for the first time today. I couldn't get JR to try to feel the baby move. He doesn't really get it quite yet, but I hope he will get a chance to feel the baby move at one point.

It's a Boy!!!

I am excited to say that we are having a boy. Even though I thought we were having a girl, I can honestly say that I feel no disappointment to find out that we are having a boy. I am excited that JR will have a little brother. I am excited to have two boys who get to grow up close in age and hopefully will be really good friends.

Everything in the scan looked good and was measuring on schedule. The baby was curled up in a tight little ball so we didn't get very many good pictures.

Here are a few of the pics we took home.

This first 3 are of his face/head. You can see the skeleton really good. It kind of makes him look like an alien.

And here is where we can see he is a boy.

We brought Jonathan to the appt. but he really didn't get it. He liked looking at the machine, but he didn't understand that it was a baby. We tried to show him the pictures afterward and he could careless. Everything else went well at my appt. I didn't get to see my dr. though, because for some reason they scheduled me on his off day. Not sure why they would do that. But it was no big deal.
Now for the hard part. Coming up with a name that both Mike and I agree on.

Half way there

Here is my first belly pic. I think I look more fat than pg, but I guess that is because I started out a kind of fat to begin with.

Only a couple more weeks and we get to see the little junebug. I know that I have said before that I think the junebug is a girl, but I have been thinking recently how much fun it would be to have another boy. Are biggest hurdle would be coming up with a boy name. Mike and I can't really decide on boy names, but we can usually agree on a few girl names. Of coure Mike won't talk to me about it right now anyway, because he wants to wait until we know what we are having. I think Jonathan would love a little brother or a little sister. He is so cute with babies right now, I can't wait to see how he reacts when the junebug finally arrives. The only reason why I think the junebug is a girl is because my pg is so different, but I would really be thrilled with a boy or a girl. We do have a lot of cute, new girl clothes that we have never been able to use, that I would love to be able to unpack to use with the junebug. But I guess I will just continue to be patient and wait out a couple more weeks, before we know. I am excited to get another glimpse of the junebug and to know that we have a healthy baby in there.

Sick

Can I just say that I hate being sick. I have been sick since last Tuesday and there seems to be no end in sight. I never get sick like this, and let me just tell you it is not fun. My head is constantly pounding, I can't breath, I can't hear and I can barely talk. I also can't stop coughing and my body hurts, from all the coughing. The fact that there is hardly anything I can take that will help sucks too. I have already felt some mommy guilt with the OTC meds I have taken, knowing that anything I take potentially can effect the baby. I live off Tylenol right now, and I hate that I have taken it so much, but I can barely function with it, let alone without it. I took some days off work last week, because of being sick, but I have been going to work this week, and just dealing with it as much as I would rather be home. I am also so tired, because I can't get any rest at night due to the coughing and inability to breath. With all that said, I do think I am getting to the end. I am not sure how much longer it will last, but everyday seems a little bit better than the day before.

Mikey has been so good to me. He has taken care of so much while I have been in this state and I know that it has been at a great sacrifice to getting his work done. He has a lot going on right now as he is currently working on his proposal for his dissertation and teaching a class. But he has done a wonderful job of taking care of me and taking care of JR when I really have not been able to. I don't know what I would do without him. He did tell me the other day that he is sure glad that I don't get sick like this very often. I am too. I know that your immune system is supposed to be weakened when you are pg, but I never experienced being sick like this when I was pg with JR. Hopefully once I get over this bug, I can escape any other bugs going around for the remainder of my pg.

Feb 12

That's the date of my sono and hopefully when we find out what we are having. Anyone want to take a guess? Check out the poll on the right side bar, if you want to make your prediction.

Other than that, my dr. appt was pretty routine. I gained 5lbs, so like I said before I wasn't going to be upset with that, but hopefully I can keep on track the rest of my pg. Dr. found the heartbeat right away. I always love that, but I wasn't too worried, because as I was waiting for the dr. to come into the room, I could feel the junebug moving around quite a bit.

I did mention to my dr. about my aches and pains that I have been having. I was pretty sure he was going to tell me it was growing pains, which he did. He also told me that you feel those pains more often and sooner with each pg. So that makes sense. I wasn't too worried. That is all for now.

Not much to report

I feel like I need to update this blog, but everything is really quiet right now in regards to the junebug. My belly is really started to show, but I still look more fat than pg. I am finally gaining some weight, which is probably a good thing, but still makes me cringe a little. I don't think I have gained that much though, although I'm sure that I look like I have. My next appt is next Tuesday, so I guess I will really know for sure how much I have gained then. If it is around 5 lbs, I will be okay with that.

From what I remember from my last pg I have a lot more aches and pains this pg. Especially in my lower back. It is getting harder for me to sit for long periods of time, without my back aching. It usually subsides after I lay down for a little bit, but with a very active toddler this is not always possible. Jonathan has started to realize that he can play with me though while I lay down and he brings his puzzles or his books over to me and stands next to the couch to play. This works good at times. Other times he demands for me to play with him on the floor, which I love to do, but hope my back can continue to allow me to do so. I am concerned for when I am a lot bigger how that may effect my ability to play with him.

I do feel good most the time though. The food thing is a little weird though. I can eat and feel okay, but food just doesn't have the same good taste as I remember. But I can say that the morning sickness is definitely gone now. I don't remember the last time I threw up. So that is nice to know that is behind me. I am more and more anxious to find out if junebug is a boy or a girl. I can be patient and wait for a month, but I have it stuck in my head right now that junebug is a girl, that if she isn't I need to start changing my thinking process. I would love to have another boy as well, but just the fact that this pg feels so differently has convinced my I am having a girl. I hope when the time comes for us to find out, that junebug cooperates and we can find out.

I have rambled a lot in this post, because like I said before there is not much to report. Just happy to know that so far everything seems to be going okay.

Appt. update

This morning I had a dr. appt. It was pretty uneventful. I did my glucose screening, which is where they make you drink a soda a hour before and then they take your blood and test your blood sugar. My blood sugar was fine, but that stick in my finger didn't feel too good. The dr. was also able to hear the heartbeat with the doppler for the first time. I was nervous that he would have a hard time finding it, but he found it pretty quick. It's always nice to hear the heartbeat to help you feel like everything is going okay. It looks like my next sono won't be until Feb. I suspected that would be the case, but was kind of hoping that I might get it next month, since I would 18 weeks. I don't mind waiting though, it's a better chance they will be able to tell the sex.

I think my morning sickness is finally gone. I still get tummy aches from time to time, but I haven't thrown up for a while now. Food still doesn't taste very good to me though, which is kind of disappointing. Hopefully it will start tasting better to me soon. I have felt more movement from time to time. It seems to happen when I start to stand up from a sitting position. It always startles me too, but then makes me smile.

Movement?

I keep thinking that it is way too early for this, but I am pretty sure that I felt that baby move the other day.

I was sitting on the couch and I felt a twinge on my side. It felt like movement, but I thought, no way, it's probably a muscle spasm or something. But then I decided to press down on the spot where I felt it and I definitely felt movement. It was pretty cool. I know I won't feel it very consistently yet, but it was pretty cool to know that the junebug was moving around in there.

1 week

That is how long it has been since I have thrown up. Dare I hope the end is in sight. I still feel sick, but at least I have been able to keep my food down. Also my belly has popped. I know I didn't start showing until I was almost 20 wks last time. But I am starting to show now. I can still hide it to some degree. But I definitely have a belly now.

I was very grateful that I was able to enjoy Thanksgiving and keep all my food down. I was even more excited when I realized that it was egg nog season. I love egg nog and it tasted so good when I was pg with JR. So I picked some up at the store. To my disappointment, Junebug doesn't like it. Oh well, I guess I can live this holiday season without it, if I have to. LOL.

There is a baby in there

Had my sonogram today and there is a little tiny baby in there. It was so nice to be able to see that, and to see that tiny heartbeat fluttering away. I forgot to ask the tech what the rate was, but of course it was normal or they would have told us. We did get to take home a few pics, they are not very clear and the baby is hard to see, but they are still precious to look at.

Oh also my due date stayed the same. The baby was measuring 2 days ahead, but my dr. said that when it is within 2 days they keep the original date. So I am officially due June 18th. Also I am changing this blog to be public now, since I feel more confident in the pg, I am going to start telling more people.

On another note I received a scrip to help me with my sickness, hopefully it might be of some help. I had lost a pound, so I guess my dr. thought that I should stop throwing up. I actually thought it was pretty good I only lost 1 pound. According to my scale I was down 5 pounds at one point. But of course I know it is never good to lose weight when you are pg. My dr. actually said to me, "Let's see if you can gain some weight next time". Which I found a little bit funny, because my last pg, he was quick to tell me when I was only half way through that I had gained enough weight for my whole pg already. I'm sure my weight gain will get right back up there again, once this throwing up stops.

All day sickness

This is what I am currently suffering from, all day sickness. I guess I should have known that I couldn't get so lucky to have hardly any sickness this time like I did last time. It's okay though. But I hate to throw up and it appears that I have to do it everyday now. I guess I am still quite lucky, because I know there are women that throw up constantly and get dehydrated and have to go the hospital and what not and I am not any where near that sick. But I do throw up at least once a day, usually before dinner. I was excited the other day, when I went the whole day without throwing up, hoping that maybe I just had one bad week and then it was getting better. But unfortunately it did not last.

Part of me thinks that this is fine, since it must mean everything is going okay with the little one right? But really I am getting more and more paranoid. I can't wait for my u/s next week and can actually feel some relief that this little one is on schedule and growing like it should. Even though I know it is completely normal to feel like this when you are pg, it just doesn't seem normal to me. Why do our bodies react this way, it doesn't make any sense, and since I didn't experience this before, it makes me wonder if something is wrong. I am tempted to call my dr., but then I tell myself that I only have to wait one more week and I will get to talk with him anyway and hopefully will be relieved to see a strong heartbeat at my u/s, and then I will have nothing to worry about, right? Yeah I know, I will find something else to worry about. Is there ever really a time when we can completely stop worrying?

Appt. update and morning sickness

Last friday was my first appt. It went pretty routine, like I expected. I was surprised that my dr. remembered me. He sees so many patients, but he knew who I was, and even remember my years of infertility, even though he never treated me for that.

Everything seemed fine and like I expected I will get a sonogram at my next appt to date the pg. As of right now my due date is June 18th, but my dr. will change that depending on the sono. My next appt is Nov 19 and it seems like forever to have to wait. But I know it will be here before I know it.

I think I can definitely say I have morning sickness now. In fact I haven't had a headache for a little while, but I am definitely feeling sick. I came close to throwing up this morning, but fortunately didn't. But I just kind of feel sick to my stomach all the time. Sometimes I feel like I just need to eat, but then nothing sounds good or if I try to eat something, I still feel sick. I really don't remember this when I was pg with JR. I remember feeling sick some of the time, but this is like a constant feeling of sickness. Maybe this feeling differently is because I am having a girl. That would be wonderful, but so would a boy. I have always thought I would have a boy and then a girl, but I guess that really doesn't mean anything. We will just have to wait and see. I was told last night that I "better have a girl" by my niece. We shall see, I guess. Hopefully the morning sickness will only last for a little while longer, at least I hope it doesn't last past the first trimester. But it does make me happy to be feeling pg. It doesn't stop my worrying completely, but it does help me feel better that everything is okay with this little one.

Headaches

I have decided that headaches are my morning sickness. I seem to get awful headaches in the first trimester, many of which are migraines. I remember these when I was pg with JR too. Oh well, I guess I am grateful that they didn't last my whole pg. I have had a touch of morning sickness, just enough for me to feel good about the pg, but not enough to make me really sick, which is good. Hopefully it won't get worse, which I know is still a real possibility.

Tomorrow I have my first appt. Kind of nervous. I know it's silly but when I went to my first appt when I was pg with JR, I was sure that someone, a nurse, the doctor, or just someone, was going to tell me I wasn't really pg, and why was I there. I know it's crazy, but I feel like that again. Is it possibly to just believe I am pg and not really be. I know it's an irrational thought, but it does make me a little nervous for my appt. I know it will be pretty routine, and nothing exciting will happen. Just hoping that I will get to schedule my first u/s.

Not much to report

I know I'm still early and I shouldn't really have many symptoms yet, but I would like to feel more pg. I don't have any morning sickness yet, which is a good thing. My pants are already getting a little tight, and I know the baby is way too little to be doing that, so not sure what that is about. I want to get through the first trimester before I bring out my maternity clothes, but not sure if that will happen or not. I am feeling a little bit more tired, but I was tired before I got pg too, so not sure if it has to do with being pg, or the fact that I get up at 5:30 every morning to teach seminary. I also have had some cramping, hopefully it is just my uterus stretching and growing. I really feel like everything is going smoothly right now, even though I don't have many pg symptoms, however I am still a little bit nervous of something going wrong. I will be happy to hear or see the heartbeat. My first appt is a week from today. I don't suspect that I will get an u/s on that day and it will be too early to hear a heartbeat on doppler, but my dr. does like to do early u/s to date the pg. So hopefully in November I will get a glimpse of the little bean.

BFP

For those that may not know, BFP stand for "Big Fat Positive". I saw a positive on a home pregnancy test today, and I am so excited.

Mike and I have been TTC #2 since the beginning of the year. With the struggles we had to conceive JR (it took 5 years), I wasn't sure what to expect. As we approached the year mark of TTC #2, I thought it was safe to say that it wasn't going to be easy to conceive #2 as well.

AF was due to arrive, and I dreamt last night that she showed up. When I woke up this morning, she had not shown, so I decided to test. I never test this early. I almost always wait until I am a few days late. I had bought a 2-pack pregnancy test last month. So I figured I had 2 tests, I might as well use one. To my surprise it was positive, I really did not expect it to be.

The first thing I did was wake up Mike and show him the test. He was a little dazed but once he awoke to realize what I was telling him, he too was very excited. I always imagined telling Mike in some cute way, but when it comes down to it, I feel he needs to know as soon as I do. He hopes and waits and is anxious for it to happen just as much as I am, so I feel it is only fair. I would have a hard time keeping it from him for too long anyway. I love that it is something that we can share for a time together before we tell anyone else.

I can't describe how blessed I feel. I am a little nervous that something may still go wrong. Right now I don't feel pg at all, which I know is completely normal, but it still make me nervous. I am so excited to feel all the experiences again that come with pg. My first pg was wonderful and I know that every pg is different, but I just can't wait for all those exciting things, like feeling the baby move and listening to the heartbeat. This blog is currently private so only I can read it, because we are not yet telling anyone. But as soon as I am far enough a long to start spreading the word, I will make it public like my other blogs and use this blog to track this pregnancy. I wanted to keep track of these early things as well, which is why I created this blog now and not later.

I am so excited and so happy. I feel so blessed. I know that JR will make a great big brother. He already has a "I'm going to be a big brother" t-shirt, that I am sure we will use to tell most people. I really can't describe how happy I am right now in my life, it is so exciting.
